The Governor explained, the aim of the move is to ensure the Hospital is upgraded into a Federal Medical Centre.
According to Governor Mohammed: “In a significant step towards improving healthcare services in Bauchi State, I have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Ministry of Health for the formal handover of General Hospital Misau, which will be upgraded into a Federal Medical Center.
The signing ceremony took place at the Government House, Bauchi, with the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, leading the federal delegation.
During the event, Prof. Pate commended my administration for its unwavering support in facilitating this transformation of General Hospital Misau into a Federal Medical Center. He highlighted the numerous benefits this upgrade will bring, particularly in terms of improved healthcare services for the people of Bauchi State. He also called on my government to continue providing support to ensure the sustained success of this initiative.
In my response, I expressed my deep appreciation to the Federal Government and the Ministry of Health for their continued interventions in Bauchi State’s health sector. I reiterated my administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and welcomed the many benefits the new Federal Medical Center will bring to our region.
Alongside the MOU signing, my administration also launched an emergency ambulance service aimed at assisting individuals in urgent need of healthcare, especially those who cannot afford such services. This launch is part of our broader efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector and ensure that healthcare is accessible to all.
Prof. Pate emphasized the critical role of this ambulance service in promoting sustainable health development, reminding us that health is indeed wealth.
It is worth recalling that, after the Federal Medical Center in Azare was upgraded, federal authorities decided to move the Federal Medical Center designation to Misau. This underscores the strategic importance of our region within the federal healthcare network.”
