Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a statement on the AFCON 2025 qualifier between Libya and Nigeria.

The African Football governing body stated, “Qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight.”
CAF’s statement is coming following Libyan government’s “disgraceful behaviour” towards Nigeria players and officials at an airport in Libya.
Super Eagles and officials were left stranded “with no food no wifi” by the Libyan airport officials after they had arrived the country for the second leg of their AFCON 2025 qualifier.
Libya and Nigeria were scheduled to lock horns in the second leg of their Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier in Benghazi on Tuesday 15 October, 2024.
Skipper of Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, said, “we will not play this game”.
Via a statement on cafonline.com, CAF said:
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight.
The matter will be referred to the competent CAF bodies.
