2023 Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has sent his “deepest sympathies to the victims and their bereaved families” following a “tragic boat mishap that claimed the lives of over 40 passengers in Zamfara”.

Atiku wrote: “The tragic boat mishap that claimed the lives of over 40 passengers in Zamfara this past Sunday casts a pall of sorrow upon us all.
My heart goes out to the victims and their bereaved families, whose suffering is especially poignant. I also extend my deepest sympathies to the Zamfara State government, for this grievous event is a profound loss to the entire community.
May the Almighty receive the souls of the departed into His eternal embrace and bestow upon their mourning families the strength and solace needed to endure their profound grief.”
