Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) has bared his mind to world leader on the “state of our world” at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 79th session.
#UNGA79 is ongoing in the city of New York, United States (US) and will conclude on Monday 30 September, 2024.
Guterres said, “The state of our world is unsustainable due to impunity, inequality & uncertainty”, adding, “more & more countries are doing whatever they want with no accountability”.
He also talked about the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, saying, “the situation in Gaza is a non-stop nightmare that threatens to take the entire region with it and Lebanon is at the brink.”
According to Guterres: “The state of our world is unsustainable due to impunity, inequality & uncertainty.
I told world leaders at #UNGA that we can’t go on like this.
The people of the world are looking to us.
Let them find us on the side of shared values & principles & on the right side of history.
“More & more countries are doing whatever they want with no accountability.
That is why it’s more important than ever to reaffirm the @UN Charter, respect international law, support & implement decisions of international courts & reinforce human rights.
Anywhere & everywhere.
“The situation in Gaza is a non-stop nightmare that threatens to take the entire region with it.
Lebanon is at the brink.
The people of Lebanon, the people of Israel and the people of the world cannot afford Lebanon to become another Gaza.”
