Officials from UAF, NCS, and other government delegations were in attendance at Bukwo District to pay final respect to the 33-year old.
The Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) wrote: “Tomorrow, officials from UAF, NCS, and other government delegations will depart for Bukwo district to pay final respects to our athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei.
Her burial will take place on Saturday, 14th in Kapsyiwo village, Muimet parish, Bukwo Sub-county, Kongasis County.
UAF officials, coaches, and athletes from the entire athletics community paid their final respects to the late Rebecca Cheptegei, offering a condolence of UGX 10,259,000.

Rebecca Cheptegei, Olympic marathoner, who finished for Uganda and was residing in Kenya, was attacked and set ablaze by her boyfriend during an argument, as revealed by Police.
She ran the marathon at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. It was her first time competing at the competition in her running career.
Jeremiah Ole Kosiom, Police Commander, said, Dickson Ndiema, the marathoner’s boyfriend, bought a jerrican of petrol, poured it on her and set her ablaze.
