Nationwide Protests: Ten Nigerian protesters charged with treason

Ten (10) people who participated in last month’s protests across Nigeria have been charged with treason alongside other serious offences at the federal high court in Abuja.

The protests which lasted for ten (10) days were called in response to the extremely difficult economic situation many are passing through.

According to bbc.com:

They turned violent in some places as protesters clashed with security forces leaving at least seven dead, according to police, though rights groups have put the death toll at 23.

All of the accused pleased not guilty.
