According to Governor Sanwo-Olu: “September is Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month in Lagos State.
During this time, we reaffirm our commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against these issues. Our mission is clear: to protect every resident of Lagos and put an end to the cycle of abuse.
Through the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, we have successfully reached over 1 million individuals, providing vital support and increasing awareness. We have secured more than 50 convictions and delivered comprehensive services to over 6,000 survivors. Our efforts are making a significant impact.
There is no place for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in our state. We will continue to enforce the law, protect victims, and ensure offenders face justice.
This initiative is not just about addressing violence; it’s about promoting hope, healing, and a future where everyone feels secure and valued.
As we observe this Awareness Month, let us renew our determination to continue this vital work. Our commitment remains unwavering: we will not rest until domestic and sexual violence is reduced to the lowest possible levels in Lagos.
Join us in this essential fight for a safer and better Lagos.”
