Kogi Rain/Windstorm: NEMA distribute relief items to affected persons

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) alongside Kogi State SEMA, distributed FG approved relief items to persons affected by rain/windstorm in eight (8) communities in Lokoja Local Government Area (LGA), Kogi State.

According to NEMA: “NEMA Abuja Operations Office (AOO) in collaboration with the Kogi SEMA carried out a direct distribution of Approved Federal Government Relief materials to persons


“affected by Rain/Windstorm disaster in 8 communities in Lokoja LGA, Kogi State. 


The Director General NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Head AOO, comrade Justin Uwazuruonye commiserated with the government and the victims over the unfortunate incident


“and advised them to be their brother’s keeper. He also extended the DGs message of moving up to higher ground as the rains are still in effect

 

He further noted that Disaster Management is everybody’s business therefore, citizens are enjoined to imbibe the culture and engage in


“activities that are geared towards Disaster Risk Reduction as this will help to mitigate against the adverse effects of disasters.

The benefiting communities include Owara, Ogabon, Agbaja, Aseni, Kupa, Chikara, Kpata and Otube.”
