England: School nurse win award for saving child’s life

For helping save the life of a pupil, a nurse at a school has received an award.

CPR was administered to the child who was experiencing a medical emergency while at school in April by Julie Conlen.

Jim Robbins, Swindon Borough Council Leader, said, “What Julie did is nothing short of amazing.”

Ms Conlen received the Judges’ Choice Award at NHS England South West Community and Primary Care Nursing Awards.

She said: “I’m honoured to have received the Judges’ Choice Award.


“This recognition was a result of a collaborative effort between myself and the dedicated school staff, and I am proud to have contributed to managing the medical emergency.


“School nurses have built strong partnerships across many Swindon schools, and this award highlights the strength and importance of these relationships.”
