The people of Edo State will come out on Saturday 21 September, 2024 to decide who succeeds Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Governor met with public servants for “the last time” and told them “Dr. Asue Ighodalo and our great party, the PDP, are best equipped to lead us on the pathway to prosperity for all Edo people”.
According to Governor Obaseki: “What an emotional moment! Meeting with you, our public servants for what may well be the last time, I couldn’t help but express my profound gratitude for the tremendous progress we have made over the past eight years.
“As a govt, we have worked to make your lives better and more comfortable. We have been faithful in ensuring your remunerations and promotions. To enhance our efficiency and effectiveness, we transitioned from a paper-based system to a paperless platform on 1st Sept 2023.
“We have improved the wellbeing of Edo people through better roads, enhanced security, education, transportation, and much more, all aimed at making life better for them.
“Saturday’s election presents a watershed moment, offering us the opportunity to solidify our efforts and set the state on an even greater path forward.
“Dr. Asue Ighodalo and our great party, the PDP, are best equipped to lead us on the pathway to prosperity for all Edo people. Some are unhappy with our achievements in public service, as these did not favour their selfish interests. We must not allow them to drag us backward.”
