An Olympic marathoner, who finished for Uganda and was residing in Kenya, was attacked and set ablaze by her boyfriend during an argument on Sunday, as revealed by Police.

33-year old Rebecca Cheptegei, ran the marathon at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. It was her first time competing at the competition in her running career.
Weeks after the Paris 2024, Cheptegei was attacked in her house in the western Trans Nzoia County in Kenya; Jeremiah Ole Kosiom, Police Commander, on Monday, said, Dickson Ndiema, the marathoner’s boyfriend, bought a jerrican of petrol, poured it on her and set her ablaze.
Cheptegei was receiving treatment for burns on 75% of her body, Police said.
Ndiema also sustained burn wounds in the alleged incident.
