The families of three out of the six victims will ask a federal court to hinder Grace Ocean Private Limited, a Singapore-based company which owns the Dali, from escaping legal liability with concern to the maritime disaster, CBS reports.

Grace Ocean Private Limited alongside Synergy Marine Pte Ltd., as manager of the Dali, filed a petition for exoneration in April from or limitation of liability in the federal district court in Maryland over the deadly incident.

The huge cargo ship, Dali, lost power and crashed into the main support pier on the bridge, resulting to the collapse of the 47-year old edifice into the water within seconds.
