He made the statement on the anniversary of September 11, 2001, the day when “2,977 precious lives were stolen” from the US.
President Biden wrote: “Let us honor those we lost on September 11th by renewing our faith in one another, recommitting to national unity, and remembering who we are:
We never forget. We are never afraid. We endure. We overcome.
We are the United States of America.
Ground Zero, New York.
On this day 23 years ago, terrorists believed they could break our will and bring us to our knees – they were wrong.
In the darkest of hours, we found light.
That is why terrorists targeted us in the first place: Our freedom, our democracy, our unity.”
