Nigerian Army has joined in providing humanitarian assistance to victims of the Maiduguri flood in Borno State.

The flooding in the metropolis has resulted to “multiple loss of lives”, according to former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.
The flood caused by heavy rain led to the collapse of the Alau Dam in Maiduguri bringing about devastation across the city, including destruction of properties and farmlands; wild animals such as snakes, crocodiles were flushed out of their enclosures and into the streets.

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has led a high-powered Federal Government delegation to Maiduguri to oversee evacuation and rescue works firsthand.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has also kicked off distribution of Federal Government approved relief materials as well as conducting medical outreach to persons affected by the flood.
