One of the few F-16 warplanes Ukraine received from its Western partners to help fight against Russia has crashed, Ukraine’s Army General Staff said Thursday, adding, the pilot died.

The warplane crashed on Monday when Russia launched a major missile and drone barrage towards Ukraine, as disclosed via a military statement on Facebook.
Four of those Russian missiles were shot down by F-16s, the statement said.
The crash was the first reported loss of an F-16 in Ukriane, where they arrived at the end of last month.
The Defence Ministry has started investigation into the crash.
According to Voice Of America (VOA): “Ukraine’s air force said Thursday that one of the F-16 warplanes that Ukraine had received from its Western partners has crashed.
The fighter jet crashed on Monday, when Russia launched a significant missile and drone attack against Ukraine, according to a military statement on Facebook.
This marks the first reported loss of an F-16 in Ukraine. The warplanes arrived in the country at the end of July.
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry is investigating the crash.”
