Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager, said at his press conference ahead of the Premier League 2024/25 match against Chelsea, “everyone knows we are not in the best physical condition”.

Chelsea will slug it out with Premier League refining Kings, Manchester City, in their opener of the Premier League 2024/25 on Sunday 18 August, 2024 at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard also gave injury update of his squad ahead of the top flight encounter in London.
At the press conference:
On Oscar Bobb’s injury, Guardiola said: “It was in the training session. Unfortunately, he had a big impact and got injured. He is having surgery this afternoon. Hopefully, it will go well and he will be back in 3/4 months. We are so sad for him – not because of his incredible pre-season, that doesn’t matter – but because any time there is a long injury. We are looking forward to seeing him again soon.”
On who will be in the squad on Sunday, Guardiola said: “I don’t know. [We’ve had] just two or three training sessions… Sunday we will see the line-up. The important thing is everyone is back except Oscar, they are okay.”
On the match at Chelsea, Guardiola said: “We have to be [ready]. I don’t know what will happen [on Sunday]. Everyone knows we are not in the best physical condition but we have the desire, and the vibe of the team is strong.”
On Rodri being in the squad on Sunday, Guardiola said: “We have to start training. We will see when he [Rodri] moves his body how he feels… No [he will not be in the squad on Sunday].”
