Paris 2024: FG hails D’tigress Olympic quarter finals feat

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent his congratulations to Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’tigress, following their qualification into the quarter finals of the basketball (Women) event of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

D’tigress discomfited Canada’s female basketball team 79-70 on Sunday 4 August, 2024 to reach the quarter finals of the basketball (Women) event.

“The President commended the team for their uncommon demonstration of resilience, teamwork, and diligence shown so far”, the FMINO disclosed.

After beating Canada, D’tigress emerged the first African basketball team whether men’s or women’s to reach the quarter finals in basketball in the Olympics.

Nigeria will slug it out with the USA in the quarter finals on Wednesday 7 August, 2024.

FG HAILS D’TIGRESS OLYMPIC QUARTER FINALS FEAT.

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates the D’Tigress for qualifying for the quarter finals of the women’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The President commended the team for their uncommon demonstration of resilience, teamwork, and diligence shown so far,

and also commends the coach and the team managers for their dedication and dutifulness which have resulted to their wins. 

He encouraged the brave Tigress not to rest until the final victory is won.

He therefore assured the team and the entire Nigerian contingent at the Olympic 2024 of his support and encouraged them to fly the Nation’ s flag at the global sports event.

The President also noted that the D Tigress Team winning two games for the first time at the Olympic, was impressive as they condemned winless Canada to an early trip back home.

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh also commented the D’Tigress for their feat, said today, the women have made history for being the first African Team to reach the Olympic quarter finals.

He enjoined them not to relent but put more efforts to achieve their main objective of bringing back the medal.
