The Olympic flag has been officially handed over from Paris to LA.

The handing over was done at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Sunday 11 August, 2024.
Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, officially handed the Olympic flag to Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles (LA) in the presence of Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Both are the “first female Mayors of Paris and LA”, and Bass emerged the “first Black woman Mayor to receive the flag at the closing ceremony”.
The next Olympic Games in 2028 will be hosted in the city of Los Angeles (LA), United States (US).

According to Paris 2024: “From Paris to LA. The Olympic flag is officially handed over!
“Mayors Anne Hidalgo and Karen Bass make history as they join IOC President Thomas Bach for the handover.
They are the first female mayors of Paris and LA and this is the first time a Black woman mayor has received the flag at the Closing Ceremony.
