Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’tigress, has qualified for the quarter finals of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 after a 79-70 victory over Canada’s female basketball team on Sunday 4 August, 2024.

Former American professional basketball player, Dwayne Wade, wrote: “Congrats!! Now I see why yall so confident.”
Wade’s statement was in reaction to a post by Sports Center (@SportsCenter), which says: “Nigeria is the first African team men’s or women’s to reach the Olympic quarter finals in basketball.”
D’tigress quoted Dwayne Wade’s tweet and commented: “We dey work and e dey show. Thank you @DwyaneWade “
Nigeria will slug it out with USA in the quarter finals of the basketball (Women) event on Wednesday 7 August, 2024.

It further wrote: “D’Tigress takes its place in history as the first African team to reach the Quarter-Finals (Men or Women).
