President of the United States (US), Joe Biden, said, “the United States is proud to be Jordan’s partner in promoting peace and stability.”

He disclosed, “I connected with King Abdullah II of Jordan on our efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, including through an immediate ceasefire and hostage release deal.”
President Biden further disclosed, “@VP
and I were briefed in the Situation Room on developments in the Middle East”, adding, “We received updates on threats posed by Iran and its proxies”.
According to President Biden: “Earlier, @VP
and I were briefed in the Situation Room on developments in the Middle East.
We received updates on threats posed by Iran and its proxies, diplomatic efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, and preparations to support Israel should it be attacked again.
We also discussed the steps we are taking to defend our forces and respond to any attack against our personnel in a manner and place of our choosing.

The heightening tensions between Israel and Iran is as a result of the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, political leader of Palestinian militants, known as, Hamas, along with his personal bodyguard in Tehran, Capital of Iran on 31 July, 2024.
