Haiti Unrest: Children severely impacted by ongoing instability and vi*lence – UNOCHA

In Haiti, Children have been impacted severely as a result of the ongoing “instability and violence including disruptions to their education”, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) disclosed.

According to a ‘Haiti Emergency Situation Report’ published on unocha.org:

1. The Global Fund for Education in Emergencies, Education Cannot Wait, provided US$2.5 million to support educational efforts in the Ouest and Artibonite departments

2. The World Food Programme (WFP) and its partners transported nearly 270 tons of food and non-food items for operations in the Sud and Ouest.

3. The United States Government announced US$60 million contribution for humanitarian relief.

4. The Haitian Government, with support from the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), is leading efforts to contain anthrax fever cases.
