AU approves $10.4 million to support Africa CDC’s efforts against Mpox epidemic

The African Union (AU) has approved $10.4 million to support increased efforts against Mpox (MonkeyPox) epidemic by Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

According to AfricaCDC: “@_AfricanUnion

 approved $10.4 million to support @AfricaCDC ‘s increased efforts against the Mpox epidemic, which has seen a 160% increase in cases and 19% in deaths across 12 member states in 2024 This crucial support will strengthen our capabilities in surveillance, laboratory testing, data collection, case management and vaccine distribution across the continent.


Solidarity and collective action are essential to overcome this epidemic.”
