Ahmadu Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, expressed sympathy with the victims of Friday’s flood and promised to provide immediate support.

The Governor made the pledge during a visit to Shuwa and Kirchinga, the affected communities, in Madagali Local Government Area on Sunday.

A report by NAN says, six (6) lives were lost as well as properties destroyed.

Atiku wrote: “My heart and thoughts are with the families who have endured the heartache of losing a loved one to the devastating flood that has ravaged Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State. In particular, my deepest sympathies and solidarity extend to the countless souls affected in the hardest-hit communities: Kirchinga, Duhu, Maiwandu, Jahili, Kokohu, Lumadu, Zhau, Palam, Kwambula, Shuware, and Shuwa.

I commend the swift and compassionate response of the Adamawa State Government and earnestly call upon the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to join hands with the State Government, ensuring that aid reaches every individual in dire need.

Looking ahead, I implore the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET) to provide timely and accurate weather forecasts to enable the safe evacuation of residents from the most vulnerable areas, thus mitigating future loss of life.”
