The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) prayed, “God to grant Sylvanus “Quicksilver” Okpala quick and full recovery”, and urged “the government to begin to care more for our citizens who , in one way or the other, have used their talents and skills to serve the nation”.
Obi said: “Also in Lagos yesterday, I visited Former Rangers FC and Former Green Eagles Player, Sylvanus Okpala, who underwent surgery at the hospital. I was glad to see that he was recovering well.
“In his heydays, Quicksilver, as he was fondly called, at one time captained the Green Eagles. He also played international football in Portugal and later joined our National Team as
Assistant Coach during which Nigeria won the 2013 AFCON.
“Again, I urge the government to begin to care more for our citizens who , in one way or the other, have used their talents and skills to serve the nation, especially in their moments of need.
“I pray God to grant Sylvanus “Quicksilver” Okpala quick and full recovery, as he continues to contribute to the development of our sports sector. His ideas and experience remain invaluable to the game.”
