On Wednesday, the Israeli military urged Palestinians across Gaza City to evacuate to the South.
This warning is a sign that, the renewed fighting which is aimed at cracking down on a resurgent Hamas insurgency would likely not stop after nine (9) months of war.
Israeli planes dropped sheets of paper containing the warning, urging residents of Gaza City to move to Central Gaza through four “safe corridors.”
The notice raised some fears among residents many of whom have been displaced severally.
According to Israel Defence Forces (IDF): “The IDF has been operating in the Gaza City area for the past few days against terrorist infrastructure and terrorist operatives.
As part of the precautionary measures taken to minimize the risk posed to civilians in active combat areas, the IDF called on the civilian population in specific areas to move towards the humanitarian area.
We emphasize that the call was only made to civilians in specific areas and did not include the evacuation of the hospitals and medical facilities in the area, this message was conveyed to Palestinian health system officials and the international community.”
