Kimberly Cheatle, Director of the Secret Service, has resigned, following her failure to properly protect former President of the US, Donald Trump, in Pennsylvania.

Mr Trump survived an assassination attempt at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday 13 July, 2024; he was moved away to safety by his security agents with a wounded ear, but, no serious injury.
Mike Johnson, House Speaker, said on Tuesday, he is “happy” to see that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned from her job in the wake of the Trump assassination attempt.
Johnson told Fox News, “I’m happy to see that she has heeded the call of both Republicans and Democrats.
“Now we have to pick up the pieces. We have to rebuild the American people’s faith and trust in the secret services and agency.”
