The 40-year old was abducted alongside many other Israelis in the early hours of Saturday 7 October, 2023 when Hamas struck the Southern region of Israel by surprise.

Several other Israelis were killed by the Palestinian fighters on that dark Saturday.

“Shlomi was working as security director at the festival when he was brutally taken hostage”, IDF said.

The IDF assured “we will continue operating to bring all our hostages home.”

On Saturday 8 June, 2024, Ziv alongside three (3) other Israeli hostages were rescued by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) while carrying out a raid in Central Gaza.

According to IDF: “Shlomi Ziv (40) was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 at the Nova festival.
