Spanish manager, Xabi Alonso, has set a huge record in the history of football in Europe.

This is coming after his side’s 2-2 draw against Roma in the second leg of their Uefa Europa League 2023/24 semi final tie at BayArena on Thursday 9 May, 2024.

The Black and Reds defeated the Giallorossi 2-0 in the first leg at Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy.

According to Bayer Leverkusen: Alonso has achieved “the longest unbeaten run in European football history!” – forty-nine (49) games unbeaten.

With a 4-2 aggregate victory over Daniele De Rossi’s Giallorossi, Bayer Leverkusen has reached the final of the Uefa Europa League 2023/24 and will play against Atalanta at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Republic of Ireland, on Wednesday 22 May, 2024.
