Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen will fight for the trophy in the final of the Uefa Europa League 2023/24 on Wednesday 22 May, 2024 at Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Republic of Ireland at 20:00 (WAT).
The Spanish manager added, “We have been preparing for these moments all year.”
In his press conference ahead of the encounter on Wednesday night, Alonso said: “Everyone is fit and ready for the game tomorrow. Matej will be in goals.
We have been preparing for these moments all year. Luckily I have a great team that are ready and we have shown that for the whole year. We don’t think tomorrow will be different. We will respect Atalanta but we will always play with the confidence we will play the way we have all season.
“The stadium here is great. There will be a great atmosphere. We know about the huge support coming here from Leverkusen, we felt that on Saturday too. We have a clear plan for tomorrow and will give everything for our fans.”
Swiss Midfielder, Granit Xhaka, said: “We still have something to lose. Winning the Bundesliga was first goal and tomorrow we have our second goal ahead of us. We want to do everything to bring the cup home with us.
In my opinion, there is no underdog in any final. We know the quality that they have and we have to now focus on ourselves and see what happens after the 90 minutes.”
German defender, Jonathan Tah, said: “The excitement is obviously there. It will be a special atmosphere here and we all can’t wait for the game to kick off tomorrow.
I can remember our last game with Atalanta. It was very aggressive game but we have development more as team and we can be more prepared for tomorrow’s game”
Bayer Leverkusen are the new Kings of Germany after winning the Bundesliga 2023/24.
The feat is the Black and Reds first ever Bundesliga title.
Alonso has guided Bayer Leverkusen from the beginning of the season without conceding any defeat; the Bundesliga Champions have played fifty (50) games in all competitions and are yet to suffer a loss.
