Alejandro Garnacho (30′) and Kobbie Mainoo (39′) were the matchwinners as Erik Ten Hag’s side grab their one and only accolade of the season.
Pep Guardiola’s side pulled one back through Jeremy Doku in the 87th minute.
United held on and went ahead to avenge their last year’s final defeat.
