Converting Davide Zappacosta’s low cross, Gianluca Scamacca opened scoring for the Italian side in the 38th minute; the Italian striker went ahead to add a second in the 60th minute.
Mario Pasalic sealed win for the visitors in the 83rd minute.
Unhappy Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp, waved his arms for fans to uplift the dull atmosphere at Anfield, however, the night was for Atalanta.
