He said, “we know our strengths and how we want to hurt them”, however, the German admitted “Arsenal are currently the best team in the Premier League”, adding, “they’re in fantastic form”.
Arsenal will slug it out with Bayern Munich in the quarter finals first leg of the Uefa Champions League 2023/24 at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday 9 April, 2024 at 20:00 (WAT).
Tuchel said: “Arsenal are currently the best team in the Premier League, all statistics prove that. They’re in fantastic form.
“We’ve performed well so far in the #UCL this season. We’ve achieved our minimum goal, not many teams can reach the quarter-finals. Things can now often come down to a bit of luck and games are decided on the day, maybe even by one or two refereeing decisions. We’re playing in a different competition tomorrow and we want to reach the semi-finals. We need two top performances to achieve that.
“They’re dominating the toughest league in the world. We know about our strengths and how we want to hurt them. We have more experience in the Champions League. It’s different in the Champions League compared to the Premier League. We want to use that to our advantage.
“Their form is really solid and they define themselves as a team. They’re also the best side in Europe from set pieces. We’re a little behind. They’re playing at a consistently high level for the second year in a row and they play with a lot of energy. There’s been a culture change under Arteta.”
On Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, Tuchel said: “He had a tough start, but the team stood by him and they’ve come through the tough period. They’re at a very high tactical level, are very solid without the ball. You need to give him real credit. But we’ll also try to be strong. The style in the Champions League is different from the Premier League. But huge credit to Arteta and the club.”
