Tunde Onakoya: ‘Congratulations on sounding the gong of Nigeria’s resilience’ – President Tinubu

The official X account of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has sent congratulatory message to Tunde Onakoya, Nigerian chess master.

At times square, New York City, United States (US), Onakoya broke the record for the longest chess marathon after playing for 60 hours.

The previous record recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR) was 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds by Norwegian duo Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018.

Presidency Nigeria wrote: “Congratulations Tunde Onakoya.”

Onakoya basked in the love and support of hundreds of supporters from the Nigerian community in the city, including Nigerian Afrobeats Megastar, David Adedeji Adeleke, AKA, Davido.

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wrote: “Congratulations Tunde on setting a new world chess record and sounding the gong of Nigeria’s resilience, self-belief, and ingenuity at the square of global acclaim.”
