The one week tournament brought together golf enthusiasts from across the country, showcasing their skills and competing for top honors. The Nigerian Army’s support for the event is part of its efforts to promote national unity and development through sports.
The event, which is the first of its kind at the club, aimed to enhance camaraderie and sportsmanship among golfers and usher in the administration of the new captains and executive members of the club.
Addressing participants and dignitaries at the closing ceremony, the Grand Patron of the club and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, lauded the organizers for a successful tournament and reiterated the Army’s commitment to supporting sporting activities.
The COAS represented by Chief of Training (COT) Army, Major General Sani Mohammed, pointed out that sporting events are taken seriously in the Nigerian Army (NA), which is also in line with the COAS’s command philosophy and a tool for national development and unity.
