The fighting between Israel and Hamas started in the early hours of Saturday 7 October, 2023 after Hamas launched a surprise attack on the Southern region of Israel.

The surprise attack by Hamas resulted in the killing of hundreds of Israelis with several others taken hostage.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas will hit six (6) months on Sunday, according to the UN Chief, as he “mourn with Israelis for the 1,200 people killed in cold blood”.

Guterres tweeted: “Sunday marks six months since Hamas launched its abhorrent terror attacks in Israel.

“I mourn with Israelis for the 1,200 people, including many women & children, killed in cold blood.”

Guterres quoted his own tweet above and commented: “I renew my call for the unconditional release of all hostages still held by Hamas & other groups.

“I have met with many of the family members of those being held captive & even former hostages themselves.

“I carry their anguish, uncertainty & deep pain with me every day.”
