In line with the Federal government policy of creating Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units (ACTU) in all Ministries Departments and Agencies, and in furtherance of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on anti corruption, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) today 18TH April , 2024, inaugurated the ACTU Unit in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty alleviation.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Hon. Chairman, (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director, System Study and Review Department, Olusegun Adigun, FSI, said that, “the creation of ACTU in MDAs was initiated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and approved by the Federal Executive Council in 2001, to serve as an in house check mechanism in MDAs against corrupt practices and unethical practices.”
The ICPC chairman further said that the hope of ICPC is that with the inauguration of ACTU in the Ministry, the Unit will be empowered to deliver on its mandate which includes periodic sensitization of staff against corruption.
He urged the ACTU Unit to operate under the direct oversight of the Permanent Secretary so as to complement Management’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability within the Ministry.
He commended the Permanent Secretary for facilitating the establishment of the Unit in the Ministry.
