“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God” – Ephesians 5:21 |
Ephesians 6:1-4 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
The “right” thing for “children” to do is “obey your parents in the Lord”, according to the Word of God. This is a command from God to “children”.
Also, “children” are to respect their “father and mother” so that it “may be well with thee”; so that you may prosper in all sphere and facet of your lives, and live long on planet “earth”.
“Fathers” are also not left out as they are commanded to take good care of their children with cogent focus on bringing them up “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”.
In addition, “Fathers” are commanded to not “provoke” their “children”.
The foundation of Loyalty in the family is connecting every member to God. Only Love fuels true loyalty, for God is love. It is very easy for every member to endure one another when they all accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, as well as be unwaveringly loyal to Him.
Loyalty is essential for real love and unity in the family. Most members of a Christian family have failed to obey the commands in Ephesians 6:1-4 , and this has resulted in the creation of channels which allow the enemy to intrude/invade the family and cause problems that may be difficult for the family to fight against.
Loyalty in the family is a solid proof that Jesus Christ resurrected, and this will help our prayers and evangelism thrive to higher altitudes.
