Ramadan 2024: ‘I am heartbroken that many Palestinians in Gaza are unable to eat a proper breakfast’ – Guterres

Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), said, he is “heartbroken that many Palestinians in Gaza are unable to eat a proper breakfast”.

This is as a result of the fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants, known as, Hamas, which started on Saturday 7 October, 2023.

The UN Chief made the statement during his “Ramadan solidarity trip” which he says “is out of respect for the beliefs of the Muslim peoples”.

Guterres said: “My fasting during my Ramadan solidarity trip is out of respect for the beliefs of the Muslim peoples I am visiting now, but I am heartbroken that many Palestinians in Gaza are unable to eat a proper breakfast.”
