According to Reno Omokri: “The biggest company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange is Airtel, an Indian company. The third largest company on the NGX is MTN, a South African company. Together, they control approximately ₦14 trillion of the Nigerian economy. But no Nigerian company is amping the top 100 largest firms on the Indian and South African bourse.

“Now, tell me how Nigeria’s Naira can appreciate when Nigerians have used their own hands to patronise two foreign companies to the extent that they are now dominant players in our economy.

“It is an economic invasion. Between the two of them, approximately $20 million is leaving the Nigerian economy for India and South Africa daily. Meanwhile, in India and South Africa, the single most significant Nigerian products are Nigerians in their prisons.

“Until Nigerians destroy their MTN and Airtel SIMs and replace them with Glo SIMs, we will never see the type of appreciation of the Naira that we expect. Don’t expect our economy to be like Japan, when money japas on a one-way ticket from Nigeria to India and South Africa.”
