Mr. Nnamdi Kanu in court |
The Federal Government had filed an amended 15-count terrorism charge and treasonable felony in 2021 against the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
After being extradited from Kenya, Nnamdi Kanu was arraigned in July 2021.
Justice Murtala-Nyako, the trial Judge, had crossed out eight (8) out of the fifteen (15) following the ruling on the preliminary objection filed by counsel to Mr Kanu challenging the legality of the charges.
The Court of Appeal had dismissed the charges against Mr Kanu, however, the Supreme Court overturned the judgment.
