AFCON 2023: Nigeria 4(1)-(1)2 South Africa – ‘From Nwabali to Ekong, we are so proud of the Super Eagles’ – Governor Sanwo-Olu

Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has come out to express his joy after the Super Eagles clinched a spot in the final of the 2023 CAF Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) with a victory over South Africa on penalties.

With a 4-2 victory over South Africa in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes, Nigeria reached the final of the tournament to face host nation, Ivory Coast, on Sunday 11 February, 2024.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said, “So proud of our Super Eagles. From Nwabali with the penalty heroics to Ekong to Osimhen and to the silent hero, Coach José Peseiro, everyone dug deep to give us this one.”

He prayed, “Off to the finals and by God’s grace the Cup.”
