Nigeria emerged victorious against Cameroon in the encounter, winning 2-0, with both goals netted by Ademola Lookman in the 36th and 90th minutes at Stade Felix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Saturday 27 January, 2024.
Sanwo-Olu said, “from Osimhen’s hard work to Lookman’s brace to Ekong and Bassey’s very solid performances as well as Nwabali’s solidity, kudos to the entire team.”
Nigeria have reached the quarter finals of the tournament, and will play against Angola, who beat Namibia 3-0 earlier on Saturday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said: “I totally enjoyed the Super Eagles’ incredible display of teamwork and determination tonight against the team from Cameroon.
“From Osimhen’s hard work to Lookman’s brace to Ekong and Bassey’s very solid performances as well as Nwabali’s solidity, kudos to the entire team.
