Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, has disclosed some update on his squad ahead of the clash against Chelsea on Wednesday.
Manchester United and Chelsea will slug it out in the Premier League 2023/24 match on Wednesday 6 December, 2023 at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman said, midfielders, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen are “not back already in the squad”.
According to manutd.com:
The manager was asked about the players seemingly closer to a comeback – Jonny Evans, Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen and Amad – by MUTV’s Mark Sullivan.
“There are some positives,” he revealed. “But not back already in the squad.”
When asked if it would be the same group as on duty in the north east, Ten Hag replied: “More or less, yeah.”
Erik has also suggested recently he needs to be mindful of individual players’ workload due to the hectic schedule, such as Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo, after their return from injury. When mooted that this may play a bigger part in his thinking during this busy month, he said: “Yeah, but I think we can pick the team, so we have a choice.
“So [it’s] a selection and players have to prove themselves all the time. It’s not that we are without players. I think, every time, we can put out a strong selection.”
Manchester United will be looking to clinch a victory over Chelsea on Wednesday following their lone goal defeat against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday 2 December, 2023.
