United States (US) President, Joe Biden, welcomed Charles Michel, President of the European Council; and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission for the second US – EU Summit on Friday 20 October, 2023.
President Biden said, “the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East call for Europe and America to take a stand together.”
The fighting between Hamas and Israel is a very serious situation, and the US President has assured Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, that, “Freedom will win not terrorists”.
Also, President Biden disclosed, he spoke with PM Netanyahu, reaffirming “US support for Israel’s defense”, also, his efforts towards ensuring the release of hostages taken by Palestinian militants known as Hamas.
President said: “Today I welcomed @eucopresident and @vonderleyen for our second U.S. – EU Summit as we continue to work closely together on the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East.
“These crises call for Europe and America to take a stand together.
“This morning, I spoke with @IsraeliPM and reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel’s defense, underscored the importance of operating consistent with the law of war, discussed moving humanitarian aid into Gaza, and ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages taken by Hamas.”
