Israeli soldiers mobilize to defend their country following a surprise attack from Palestinian militants known as Hamas in the early hours of Saturday |
However, the IDF is still in need of assistance as it calls on Israelis abroad to come back and help the country defeat Hamas.
The Palestinian fighters are fighting against Israeli forces right inside Israel after they launched a surprise attack on the Southern region of Israel, killing several hundreds and taking many others hostage.
Countries have started evacuating their citizens from Israel as fighting between Hamas and Israel intensifies.
Israel Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, says, special flights are being arranged to help Israeli military reservists living abroad to get back to the country.
According to Cohen, there has been “many requests” from many Israelis from around the world to come back home as soon as possible “to volunteer, to lend a hand”.
Some military service is mandatory for some citizens of Israel, and it doesn’t matter if they have dual nationality.
