The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper 2023: Courtois, Onana make list of nominees

Thibaut Courtois of Belgium and Andre Onana of Cameroon made the list of five (5) nominees for the Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper 2023 award.

The List of nominees:

  1. Yassine Bounou: Won the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League | Saved a kick in the penalty shoot-out in the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League final | Named in the UEFA Europa League 2022-23 Team of the Season
  2. Thibaut Courtois: Won the 2022-23 Spanish Copa del Rey | Named in the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League Team of the Season | Inducted on the Belgian Walk of Fame
  3. Ederson: Won the 2022-23 English Premier League | Won the 2022-23 English FA Cup | Won the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League
  4. Andre Onana: Won the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana | Won the 2022-23 Coppa Italia 2022-23 | UEFA Champions League runner-up
  5. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen: Won the 2022-23 Spanish Primera División | Won the 2022-23 Supercopa de España | Named 2022-23 Primera División Player of the Season
According to fifa.com:
The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023™ are coming into view, with voting for several of the prestigious honours getting under way on 14 September.
Fans of the beautiful game from across the globe will be able to cast their vote in a number of categories as FIFA crowns the leading performers from women’s and men’s football.
The qualifying period for the women’s awards – Best Women’s Player, Best Women’s Coach and Best Women’s Goalkeeper – was from 1 August 2022 to 20 August 2023, the date of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.
For the men’s awards – Best Men’s Player, Best Men’s Coach and Best Men’s Goalkeeper – the qualifying period was between 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023.
Fan voting in all of the above categories will commence via FIFA’s digital platforms on 14 September when the respective shortlisted nominees are announced, along with The FIFA Fan award.
Voting for The FIFA Puskás Award, which will be presented to the scorer of the best goal in the relevant qualifying period – between 19 December 2022 and 20 August 2023 – will take place from 21 September.
