G20 Summit: India welcomes African Union as a permanent member

Prime Minister of India, Nerandra Modi, has expressed his joy as he officially welcomes the African Union (AU) as a permanent member of the G20.

This was announced at the G20 Summit which is being hosted in New Delhi, Capital of India.

The event kicked off today, Saturday 9 September and will end on Sunday 10 September, 2023.

According to the Indian PM, Nerandra Modi: “India is elated to welcome 

@_AfricanUnion as a permanent member of the G20. Together, let us foster global unity and progress. Let us also do whatever we can for the development of the Global South.”

This was his comment when he quoted a tweet on the official Twitter account of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which announced African Union (AU)’s inclusion as G20 permanent member.
