Mathys Tel scored the winner for Thomas Tuchel’s side late, in the 87th minute after Leroy Sane levelled for the visitors in the 58th minute.
Monchengladbach took the lead in the 30th minute through Ko Itakura.
This outcome leaves Bayern Munich second on the table behind toppers, Bayer Leverkusen, who lead on goal difference.
Bayern Munich Austrian Midfielder, Konrad Laimer, in his post-match comments, said: “We kept trying in the second half and never gave up. We just kept going, kept creating chances. In the end, we got the reward and deservedly won.”
