The Governor disclosed, “We discussed collaborations between our administration and these research institutes especially at this crucial time when food security is of utmost importance.”
Governor Makinde said: “Earlier today, we received Dr. Simeon Ehui, Director General, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), and One CGIAR Regional Director for West and Central Africa; Prof. Appolinaire Djikeng, Director General, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and One CGIAR Senior Director of Livestock-Based Systems, Nairobi, Kenya; and Dr. Eliane Ubalijoro, Chief Executive Officer, Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and Director General, International Council for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF), Nairobi, Kenya and their teams on a courtesy visit.
“We discussed continuous collaborations between our administration and these research institutes especially at this crucial time when food security is of utmost importance. I assured the IITA DG that our collaboration on the Start Them Early Program (STEP) would continue under Omituntun 2.0 and that we would expand the programme as earlier planned.”
