FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023: Three African teams reach round of 16 for the first time

Three African teams have made it into the round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in the history of the tournament.

The three teams are; Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco.

Nigeria finished second in Group B with five (5) points, South Africa finished second in Group G with four (4) points, while Morocco finished second in Group H with six (6) points.

According to FIFA Women’s World Cup: “For the first time in #FIFAWWC history, three African teams have qualified for the Round of 16!”
